2009 Men’s Retreat: Standing Firm In The Faith, and Going Fishin’
Here at TravelBlog we’ll bring you some of the testimonies from the 2009 Men’s Retreat over the next few days, as well as some of the sights (don’t be afraid). Below, Jeremy Isom shares what most stood out to him at this year’s retreat:
The statement that really hit me from the weekend was “Love without courage is ‘enabling’ ” during Roberts session. That really challenged me to the core. There have been so many times in my life where I really enabled people and I did not have courage. That especially hit home with my love for my wife. In my life right now I am standing for the covenent of marriage and I have stood firm for over two years and decided to love with courage but that has been not changed my situation.
Standing firm as been my daily prayer and it was so encouraging to read those words all throughout the notes. Standing firm is much easier said then done. When I think of the covenent of marriage it states “to death do us part!” That basically says the only reason you would give up your vows is if your spouse dies. Wow! I walked away from the mens retreat encouraged in my journey and provoked.
And here is a photograph from Ed Stogner, capturing an image of his friend Sean Steadman fishing on the shore of the lake. As you can see and read, this retreat was a great time of learning and relaxing, of discipleship and friendship:
