The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Contend: Turn Off Reality, Turn On Indifference, by Philip Revell

So I was at the mall tonight, tagging along with a couple friends who had to buy some clothes.  Isn’t it weird how the mall becomes a lot less glamorous when you’re not 14?  Maybe it’s just me.  But the … Continue reading

In Pursuit of Obedience… and Its Rewards, by Matt Harner

Why is it that we are content with setting aside the Bible’s commands in order to fit in with the world around us? I know, I know, there’s grace to cover our sins. Thank Jesus for that! But sometimes we … Continue reading

Before and After, by Jared Kennedy

You can’t help but love a good before and after photo!  I love watching shows like This Old House or Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, where an old beat-up home is transformed (or demolished and rebuilt) right before your eyes.  I … Continue reading

A Community Of Calebs, by Mike Crowe

Like the nation of Israel in Numbers 13-14 we too falter, fall, and shrink back from the life to which God has called us, a life of trust in His power, presence, and promises. Poised to overtake the pagan peoples … Continue reading

How Deep Does Redemption Go? by Rusty McKie

Pastor Robert asked me this question a while back, and I have not been able to get it off my mind.  One’s answer to this question reveals their view of God, self and the cross.  Many believers these days live … Continue reading

The Curious Case Of Lachlan Coffey: I Missed A Sunday

I feel so guilty right now. I know…I shouldn’t look in the mirror because I won’t like what I see. And I see your little beady eyes looking at me disgusted. But it’s true. I missed service last Sunday. It’s … Continue reading

How About That Weather? No, Really … by Mike Crowe

Consider your conversation over the last week.  How much of it involved talk about the weather?  Seriously.  Think about it for a moment. We often use “talking about the weather” as a euphemism for simply making small talk or carrying … Continue reading
