The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Baptism Testimonies: Sojourn’s Erica Cecil

We will celebrate another Baptism Sunday on January 23. If you would like to take this important step in identifying with Christ and His bride, email baptism@sojournchurch.com by Sunday, January 16.

And now, Erica Cecil tells the story of her salvation, which led to a recent baptism at Sojourn Gathered:

I grew up attending a Catholic church with my dad. As I grew older, we started going to church less and less frequently. By the time I was in 5th or 6th grade, we stopped going except for Holidays here and there. My family was never a very religious family and prayer with them was non-existent. However, I did pray on my own frequently. While prayer became more habitual for me growing up, I don’t think I ever understood being a “Christian” fully and I never did live my life fully as a Christian.

I felt as if something was missing in my life. I would get frustrated easily and take it out on others. My heart had become hardened and I would find myself gossiping or being hateful toward others. Toward the end of my college years, I began going to different churches around town and began to understand what I had been missing in my life.  I had been missing Christ.

While getting to know Bryan, my now husband, I began going to Sojourn in October 2008. My heart opened up to the preaching of God’s Word and I rejoiced in knowing Christ. The hole I had has been filled and the Spirit now leads and guides me to my everyday decisions in life.

I know I am a Christian because I love and trust in the Lord and believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins so that I may be forgiven. I am constantly growing in faith and put my trust and confidence in the Father.
