Baptism Testimonies: Sojourn’s Tony Watson
We will celebrate another Baptism Sunday on May 16. If you would like to take this important step in identifying with Christ and His bride, email baptism@sojournchurch.com by Sunday, May 9.
And now,Tony Watson tells the story of her salvation, which led to a recent baptism at Sojourn Gathered:
I have been blessed with God’s grace throughout my life. I grew up in a family of four sisters and two brothers. We were raised in the church, by our mother. My father went to church on Christmas. We went to parochial grade school and high school. All the while, we were told that we had to go to church on Sunday, obey the Ten Commandments and be good so we could go to heaven when we died. I grew up in the church rather than in Christ.
After a short failed marriage and wild college days I met my wife of 33 years. God blessed us with a loving relationship, four children and 13 grandchildren with one on the way. After our children got older we quit attending church regularly. It seemed that attending regularly wasn’t necessary and it had lost its meaningfulness.
A little over a year ago I started attending Sojourn at the prodding of my wife. Both of us discovered what Christ-Centered life was. Since that time my life has become more peaceful, the problems of everyday life don’t seem so big. Life in general has a brighter out look. Although I was baptized as an infant, I am thankful that by God’s grace I have been afforded the opportunity to come before God, my family, friends and the Sojourn Community and proclaim the Jesus Christ is my Lord and Salvation through baptism.
