Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For Lent, Week 1 At Sojourn Gathered
Last Sunday our pastors concluded the Faithmapping sermon series. You can listen to each sermon in the series from the Resource page here at sojournchurch.com or in the free iTunes Sojourn Church podcast.
This week we begin working through an amazing explanation of the gospel — Romans 8. In 39 verses, Paul builds a case for the supremacy of Christ, sovereignty of God and assurance of our salvation, from “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” to “Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
As you most likely know by now, Lead Pastor Daniel Montgomery is encouraging every Sojourner to memorize Romans 8 together, beginning this Sunday and wrapping up on Easter. We’ve got a full devotional/memory plan, which you can pick up Sunday or download right now.
If you’re on Facebook, “Like” facebook.com/40sojourn and post encouragements there — anything from a sentence to video of you or your family memorizing, scripture songs, memorization tips, or anything else that you think would be helpful.
You can also visit 40.sojournchurch.com to download the devotional at any time, to read various memorization plans (40 day plans, 20 day plans, and so on) and other cool features.
Most importantly, come ready to receive what God wants to show you as we begin working through Romans 8 this Sunday. Songs we’ll sing together include:
- Absent From Flesh, from our latest project. Hear it in its entirety in the playlist at our The Mercy Seat/The War page.
- Waters Of Forgiveness, also from the new split EP. Hear it in its entirety at The Mercy Seat/The War Bandcamp page.
- O Help My Unbelief. Hear a sample at the Indelible Grace website.
See you Sunday.
