The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For Sojourn Gathered, April 3, 2011

"40 Romans 8"We continue our March toward Good Friday and Easter this Sunday, as our pastors will take us deeper into Romans 8. If you haven’t seen the interaction at Facebook.com/40sojourn, you should check it out: lots of you have written encouragements, created things like iPhone and Android Romans 8 memorization apps, computer wallpaper, video of your kids memorizing verses, and more.

This week, as last, we’ll learn about adoption — God’s adoption of us into his family, through the sacrifice of Christ. It’s popular for people to say “We are all God’s children,” but the Bible teaches that although we are all God’s creation — made in his image — we are actually born in sin, enemies of God. We become sons and daughters of God only through grace, by faith. Come Sunday to hear about this.

We’ll also have Easter Invite Cards for you, so you can pass them out to friends, family, coworkers and neighbors. Non-Christians and those who have grown away from church are often more willing to come to a service on Easter than any other day, so make the most of that opportunity.

Songs we’ll sing together include:

And speaking of songs, if you’ve been waiting on physical CDs for the new Sojourn album featuring Jamie Barnes and Brooks Ritter, we’ll have them at the Book Tables this Sunday. See you then.
