Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For Sojourn Gathered, July 11, 2010
This week is Baptism Sunday for most Sojourn Gathered services, so get ready to celebrate new life in Christ. We take baptism seriously within Sojourn. And as many of you know, “serious” and “party” are often flip sides of the same coin in this community. Come prepared to hear stories of salvation, witness the sacred symbol of baptism and welcome our brothers and sisters into the ranks of those who are now identified with Christ’s burial and resurrection. And as always, come prepared to take the feast of the Lord’s Supper together, which we do weekly until He returns.

We’ll also begin a month-long series on St. Paul’s letters to the Ephesians and Philippians. This means we’ll give you a new, free monthly devotional by our pastors, which will coincide with the sermon series. We’ll also make the PDF available here at sojournchurch.com. In the meantime, come prepared to dive into the beginning of Ephesians with our pastor. The whole epistle is just six chapters long, so read it — or at least the first two chapters — before Sunday to prepare your mind and heart for illumination.

This Sunday we’ll sing these and other songs together:
- Here Is Love (hear a preview by Matt Redman and the Passion Band at Last.fm)
- The Wonderful Cross (hear a preview at Last.fm)

See you Sunday! Until then, dwell on the words of this Call To Worship, which we’ll proclaim together at Sojourn Gathered:
We were dead in our trespasses,
and by nature children of wrath, just like everyone else.
But because of his great love for us,
God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ.
You have been saved by grace. And this is not your own doing.
It is the gift of God.
Let us worship the Lord who lifts us up!

Bobby,
Thank you for doing all that you do, which I do not know all that you do, but thank you. I notice that you mentioned that the Ephesians study quide will be available by pdf. Do you know if it will be before Sunday? The reason I ask is that I am one of the CG leaders and we meet on Sunday nights. It would be nice if I could have sooner.
Please thank the person(s) for me that put these together. I was glad to hear that it will continue.
Again thank you for all that you do.
In His service,
Charles
Thanks Charles!
We’ll try our best to post the Ephesians/Philippians study online by Saturday night/Sunday morning at the latest. It will be under the big “Resources” tab here at sojournchurch.com.
Bobby, I love the devo. format we had in Galatians. Thank you and all who have worked so hard to prepare it. Our CG has greatly benefited by it. If I could, suggest one thing to consider, could a translation be used instead of a prarpharase in printed form for the Word of God in the back of the devotional booklet.
In His True Freedom,
Connie B.
I just wanted to offer a huge THANK YOU to whoever took the time to put together our study guide on Galatians! I have loved going through all of it – the Pastors’ letter, all the commentary, the scripture readings and prayers, and the study questions. All were very helpful (and life-changing) to me, personally, and I plan on hanging on to it for future use and reference. The guide, along with the end notes and recommended reading, all make wonderful material for any bible study offering! It’s evident that much prayer, thought, discernment and work went into it, and it is very much appreciated – thanks so much – I am very grateful for our leadership at Sojourn!
