The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For Sojourn Gathered, Sunday, August 15

For the last two weeks we’ve been journeying through Colossians.  This coming Sunday we’ll bring the current sermon mini-series to a close by learning from 1 Thessalonians.  Specifically, our pastor will speak on Paul’s admonition to live in such a way that God is pleased, from 1 Thessalonians 4.

And here’s something fun that we’ll do after the 7pm service at the Midtown Campus:

Our next sermon series, which begins August 22, is “We Are The Church.”  We’re going to do a fun, participatory art project to demonstrate this.  Our Visual Arts Ministry will take a photo of Sojourn members, lying down in such a way that our outlines will form a “church building.”  Come on — you 7 pm people know you want to do this.

Anyway, this will be after our worship service, so hopefully many of you can stick around.

Songs we’ll sing together this week at all campuses include:

See you Sunday.

I’ve altered this blog post from its original. We’d first planned to do the art project at every campus, but for logistical reasons we’re now only going to do it at the final service of the day — the 7pm Midtown service.
