Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For Sojourn Gathered, Sunday February 27, 2011
We are now over one month into our Faithmapping sermon series at Sojourn Gathered, and in fact just have a week left before the season of Lent, which we’ll kick off with an Ash Wednesday service at all three campuses (6:30 to 7:30 am, March 9). During Lent we’ll dig into one of the most famous chapters in the Bible — Romans 8. But for this week’s Faithmapping sermon, our pastors will focus on what it means for us to be a missionary church.
The key text will be Mark 6, particularly verses 6 through 13, so read and meditate on that passage between now and Sunday. These verses tell the story of how Jesus sent his 12 close disciples into the villages of Judea, preaching repentance, healing the sick and casting out demons. Come prepared to examine your heart, and to ask and learn what the call to mission looks like in our day.
Songs we’ll sing together this week include:
- A City No Longer Forsaken, from our brand new split EP The Mercy Seat/The War. Hear it in full from the playlist here, if you haven’t already downloaded it.
- God Of This City. Hear a sample at Amazon.com’s music store.
- Let Justice Roll Like A River
See you Sunday.
