The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For The April 25 Sojourn Gathered

20100405_0218This week at Sojourn Gathered marks our second foray into the Gospel of John, and it concludes our two-month journey through the four Gospels.  Our pastor will teach from John 17:20-26, Jesus’ priestly prayer for His followers.

This section starts off with words that should send a chill down your spine:

I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word …

If that doesn’t want to make us study the rest of the passage with extra special care, I don’t know what would.  Come Sunday, prepared to learn and worship together.

Of course we always worship through music when we gather together.  This Sunday, we’ll sing “We Are Changed” from our record Over The Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts, Volume One. If you don’t own it, you can listen to a preview of “We Are Changed” at Last.fm.  You can hear the entire song by viewing the “I Want New” flash photo slideshow at vision.sojournchurch.com.

Other songs we’ll sing include:

This Sunday will include the final call for a couple of cool opportunities:

  1. Our last Membership class until late/summer early fall is just over a week away: April 30 & May 1, at the East campus.
  2. Our final special Tuesday morning prayer meeting for the vision campaign is next Tuesday from 6:30am to 7:30am

And we’re hosting a couple of events between worship services this Sunday:

  1. The East campus is hosting a campus beautification project following the 10am service. Learn how you can pitch in here.
  2. Sojourn Visual Arts is holding an info luncheon at the Midtown campus, following the 11:15 service

See you Sunday!
