Getting Ready For Sunday: How To Prepare For TRINITY SUNDAY, MAY 30, 2010
Unless you haven’t visited TravelBlog this week, you know that our next Sojourn Gathered worship service will center around Trinity Sunday, a yearly celebration of the Christian Church calendar that falls one week after Pentecost Sunday. Yesterday, Pastor Daniel wrote about it and called on Sojourn community groups and members to throw “Parties Of Three” this week or next. And Tuesday, I interviewed Dr. Gregg Allison of our East campus in three short discussions about the doctrine of the trinity, as it relates to worship, community and cults.
This Sunday, we’ll dig into Paul’s understanding of the trinity from his epistle to the Ephesians. Come ready to explore this crucial understanding of God, which, as Dr. Allison told me, is what separates Christianity from every other religion.
We’ll sing a couple worship songs written by our own Jeremy Quillo:
- Sacred Confession (hear this With The Angels song in its entirety at this link)
- Mourning Into Dancing (hear it all by clicking “preview” from our These Things I Remember page at sojournmusic.com)
And here is a short video that we played for you earlier this year on TravelBlog, from a Midtown Campus worship service where we sang “Mourning Into Dancing”:
See you Sunday. Until then, think on this truth, which we will hear and read together when we meet:
You did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,
but you have received a spirit of adoption.
When you cry, “Abba! Father!”
it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit
that we are children of God,
and if children, then heirs,
heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
In Christ, by the power of the Spirit, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to the triune God.
