The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Photo Blog: 2009 Sojourn Fall Festival!

Yesterday, well over 1000 Germantown residents and other Louisvillians celebrated our 3rd annual Fall Festival at The 930 Art Center.  Hopefully you made it.  If not — or if so — you might have seen our series of 1-minute, on-the-spot videos from the Festival yesterday (check ‘em here, here, here and here).  And now, courtesy of Sojourn photographer Dan Canales, take this journey in pictures through our Fall Festival:
SFF09_0035Remember Big Wheels?

SFF09_0034Remember horses?

SFF09_0033The picture of happiness and wonder.

SFF09_0031Plenty of good Kentucky bluegrass music in our food tent, all day long.

SFF09_0030Speaking of food …

SFF09_0029Might as well have the beans. And potato salad, chip, brats, burger, hotdogs, cookies …

SFF09_0028It’s th Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

SFF09_0027Gloves. Now there’s a good idea.

SFF09_0026The tools of the trade.

SFF09_0025It’s amazing what can be done with balloons. This little guy will now be sitting on the ledge at Proof On Main. Kidding …

SFF09_0024Guard dog. Or bunny.

SFF09_0023Over 300 Sojourners served at our Fall Festival. What a family!

SFF09_0021Hey, who told a girl she could enter the Fall Festival Strong Man Contest?

SFF09_0020Worse yet, she won.

SFF09_0022Leaves: the mark of Fall.

SFF09_0019It was an honor to have mounted police at the Festival. The Mountie always gets his man!

SFF09_0017What’s a festival without some art?

SFF09_0018Or a petting zoo?

SFF09_0015Next stop, Daytona 500.

SFF09_0013Little ones got to sit in the fire truck.

SFF09_0014Collision?

SFF09_0006Back at the Strong Man competition. Actually I have no idea who won.

SFF09_0010Back at the Petting Zoo. Okay, maybe not …

SFF09_0008My greatest thanks go to the guys and gals who worked the grill.

SFF09_0007Of course, it is Kentucky. We had to have a horse.

SFF09_0005I would have done the Strong Man, but I … okay, let’s be honest. This looked hard.

SFF09_0004You can’t outrun the long arm of the law.

SFF09_0002Goodbye, Fall Festival. See you in 2010!
