The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Photo Blog: Sojourn’s New Home In J-Town

Yesterday, you read a letter from the pastors and you watched a video introduction by Pastor Daniel, detailing the swift addition of a third Sojourn campus: this one in the J-town (Jeffersontown) area of Louisville.  Head over to that article now if you didn’t see it, and you’ll learn the details and the reason for the suddenness of this news.  Also, remember that we’ll hold an open forum at this facility at 1:30pm this Sunday, May 2.

Here, courtesy of deacon Dan Canales, are photos of the campus, and photos from this past Sunday when the Lakeside Baptist Church members voted to become a part of Sojourn.

A pond on the campus property. To reiterate from the pastors’ letter to us, this land and building were owned by Lakeside. We are not assuming debt for the property, we’re assuming the property free and clear.

This, my friends, is the baptismal. Wild, huh?

Whether we each live in J-Town, Germantown, Shelby Park, St. Matthews, New Albany or other parts of this region, we’re a part of something bigger than ourselves. When God instills vision, He also equips His followers to carry out that vision.  Let’s be faithful to carry out Sojourn’s vision of gospel transformation in ourselves as individuals, in our church, this city and the world.

How exciting and encouraging it is to see faces outside of the 20s and 30s (or at the least outside the majority of Sojourn’s demographic) catching the fire for the Gospel and the vision Sojourn has for spreading it from this City to the world. I am so thankful for a church that not only has the fire for the Gospel message but is burning so bright that others want to be apart of it and have the wisdom and discernment to make such a bold move! Very excited to merge/partner with this church and take the gospel to the J-town area in a way we haven’t thus far.

  5. Milli Clark says:

Amen to the comments! My husband and I were invited by a Lakeside member to attend this wonderful service and meet her friends at the church. What precious and kind people! Their joy and excitement was contagious! What fun it will be to get to know the Lakeside members and worship together. I believe that the hand of God was in every part of the process. Thank you God and Lakeside! Aint God good!

  10. Beth Crouser says:

This is great. I am so thankful for how God is moving! AND I think the picture of Daniel hugging (or getting ready to hug) the older gentleman is so great. I seriously smile every time I look at it. Love it!

It is awesome to see what God is doing in this City. I think God’s Vision for our body is beyond our comprehension right now. I look forward to being in this. God is posting up the pegs for his tent to cover this city big time!!!

  15. Patty Eiden says:

This is so like our amazing God! “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” Eph. 4:20-21
