Salvation Stories: Sojourn’s Cassie Arthur
We will celebrate another Baptism Sunday on January 15. If you would like to take this important step in identifying with Christ and His bride, email baptism@sojournchurch.com by Monday, January 9.
Christ has always had a large impact on the choices I have made in my day to day life. Raised to be a Christian, in a very supportive and loving family, I walked a path of understanding and acceptance. However, I never truly understood the messages being delivered to me.
I was a child when my mother made the commitment to be baptized. A million thoughts ran through my head, but the one I continually asked was, “Why?” My mother never forced me into baptism; she simply stated that when I was ready I would know.
As I grew into adulthood the challenges I faced became more difficult. I found myself surrounded by people calling themselves my friends, while causing me heartache and pain. I was being exposed to environments and substances I knew were wrong. Unfortunately as a young, naive, easily influenced adolescent I choose the path of my social guidance, ignoring the voice inside, telling me to walk away.
I can’t help but to feel I am missing something. While no one will ever achieve full knowledge of the one who died on the cross to save us from our sins, but we can invite him closer to our hearts, allowing him to guide us through our lives.
I make this commitment to Jesus Christ, our chosen savior, in front of all of you today. I was once a sinner, walking a path shadowed by a veil of sin. I will emerge a “pathway,” through which the teachings of our Savior can pass.
I now commit myself as a true follower of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
