The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Salvation Stories: Sojourn’s Will Sharpe

We will celebrate another Baptism Sunday on March 4. If you would like to take this important step in identifying with Christ and His bride, email baptism@sojournchurch.com by February 28.

And now, a Sojourner tell this story of salvation, which led to a recent baptism at Sojourn Gathered:
I grew up in a loving Christian household with two parents who exemplified Christ daily.  While I was growing up, my relationship with Christ was always what most would consider lukewarm.  As I entered high school I turned my back on the Lord and pursued my sinful desires full force.
As I continued to stray further and further away from the Lord my life became plagued with drug addiction.  As my addiction continued, it was as though I had lost my conscience.  I didn’t care about my family, my friends, or my own health.  Thankfully, turning my back against God didn’t mean he turned his back against me.
As my family prayed for me to return to God and to them, God’s grace began to soften me hardened heart.  I began to realize the pain that I was causing others as God called me back to Him.  As I battled my addiction, I knew the only place I could turn was to God.  He revealed himself to me and was and continues to be faithful in this battle.

For so long I found my identity in this time period of my life.  However, through God’s grace and revelation He is showing me that I can only find my identity in Him.  In Ephesians 2:8 it says “For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, so that no one may boast.”  This verse affirms that I am saved only through Christ and as I continue to fail, his blood continues to wash over me.  I know that through this blood I will one day stand before our loving God in eternity.
