The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Should Christians Observe Halloween? And What Is Trunk-Or-Treat?

Sunday, October 30 Sojourn’s East Campus will host Trunk Or Treat, a fun event for families and children that will feature:

  • Free Food
  • Costume Contest
  • Inflatables
  • Games for Kids
  • Lots of Candy!
  • Free Fall Portrait

What’s the point of a church doing something like Trunk Or Treat? And should Christians do this or anything that gives the appearance of observing or endorsing Halloween?

I asked Sojourn East Worship Director Jamie Barnes about it, as well as Sojourner Jacob Davis, who has blogged eloquently about this issue. Listen to our short interview through one of the options below, and then read Jacob’s blog posts, also referenced in links below. Also note that Jamie’s voice starts doing something spooky toward the end of the interview. It’s only him; not me or Jacob. Scary.

You can listen directly here, or download this new interview for free from our Inside Sojourn podcast at one of the links below.
