Sojourners In Michigan, part two, by Bobby Gilles
I have to write quickly, before heading downstairs for some breakfast and then back to Calvin College to hear Marva Dawn (author of many great books like “Reaching Out Without Dumbing Down”). Mike Cosper, Eddy Morris, Jamie Barnes, Michael Morgan and I are staying at the same hotel as Kevin Twit, the founder of Indelible Grace, and Jonathan Gilley, from the Redeemer church plant in Chicago. We’ve been hanging out with them a bit.
Random Fact about Kevin Twit: he’s a voracious reader and book collector. We went to a book store last evening, during which he helped us Sojourners with our selections.
Random Fact About Jamie Barnes: he talks in his sleep sometimes. It’s not intelligible. Some sort of goblin gibberish or something.
Yesterday for dinner we were honored to attend a special dinner for past and present grant recipients of the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship. Calvin and Sojourn have worked together on several things over the years (like the Vertical Habits project that led to Before The Throne) and they have been very helpful. During the dinner, Betty Grit from Calvin called our Pastor Mike to the podium to say a few words about Sojourn. You should all be pleased that we have a pastor who represents us so well to Christians everywhere.
That’s about all the time I have now. I’ll be live blogging a session on Teens and Worship this morning on sojournmusic.com, and later, a session on worship and the Holy Spirit.
