The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

Specific Ways Your Giving Towards Missions Will Help Others Around The World

This month we’ve been asking you to be generous with year-end giving. As you know, we need to erase the budget shortfall that existed going into December. We are still a little behind.

Also, as last year, we want to turn over 25% of all December offerings to missions.  At Sojourn Gathered and here in TravelBlog you’ve heard about — or from — several missionary partners and church planters. We’re supporting, equipping, training and sending Sojourners into many parts of the world, to carry out our vision of gospel transformation.  Here are a few more specific projects we’d like to invest in, with your generous giving:

Bibles for North Africa
Our missionary partners in North Africa have noted that local church leadership there has expressed a desire to place a Bible in every Orthodox Church in the region. Most churches do not even have one Bible. I don’t just mean “most Christians” or “most people.”  I mean “most churches.” Not one Bible in the majority of churches. Sojourn has the opportunity to purchase Bibles and place one in every church. The cost will be $7,500.

Art Gallery in Rome
Our partners in Rome, the Coopers and the Karrs, want the gospel to impact the art world in Rome much like it has here in Louisville. The vision is to have an art center where artists can show their work. Through this, our partners will be able to develop deep relationships within the art community. Also, since space is hard to come by in Rome, the team will be able to use the gallery as a place to host Bible studies — and one day, a church.

Marriage Conference for the Horn of Africa
Living and working in an international context can place a heavy toll on a marriage. Sojourn’s vision is to host a marriage conference every two years in the Horn of Africa for over a hundred married couples. We would send a group of Sojourners, including the Cheongs, to minister to these couples. By helping missionaries strengthen their marriages, we will be helping the gospel go forth in the Horn with even greater effectiveness.
