The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

The Problem With Sex

Sex.  What a glorious gift from God!  …and what an easy place for Satan to creep in to kill, steal and destroy.  How many Christians in the history of the church have been assaulted with the ongoing torment of sin attached to our sexuality?  Sure, we understand that all sin is equally repulsive to God, but it would seem that the presence of sexual sin is always constant, always ferocious and always crippling to those involved.

It makes one wonder why.?  Why is sexual sin more prevalent?  Why not lying, gossip or murder?  The reason is this: nothing on this earth is so closely attached to the gospel as good, godly sex in marriage-and Satan hates it!  By tainting the image, he can taint our view of the gospel.

This is the problem with sex: Not that sex is bad, but that Satan is quick to attack us in an effort to pervert God’s good design.

So then, good sex in marriage is proclamation to ourselves, the world, and Satan with his hellish crew: the kingdom of darkness is coming to an end, and Christ has won!  It is a picture that we are now united to Christ and death no longer reigns over us!  As Christians, we should embrace God’s redemption in our sexuality, knowing that when we fight for healthy marriages we are fighting for the gospel.

Unfortunately, many of us are too ashamed or embarrassed to talk about sex, resulting in hurt people hurting people with their sexuality. This cycle is sick, but God desperately wants to redeem our sexuality.  And we can be sure that He will!  Christ will cleanse His bride, making her lovely (Eph 5:25-27).  The wedding feast we will be a part of will be better than anything experienced on this earth!

To all those sin-tattered children of God out there who have been beaten up and bruised in the area of sexuality, know this: there is a glorious hope now and to come!  Christ, our good Husband, comes bringing hope and freedom for He loves to redeem things!  Cling to Jesus, brothers and sisters, He is the Creator and Redeemer of sex.  Surely, He will do more than we can ask or imagine in the area of our sexuality.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever, Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21
