The name “TravelBlog” is a play on the name of our church family: Sojourn Community Church.

A sojourn is a trek, a quest. A journey from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light, made possible by the grace of God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Like the ancient children of Israel, like the writers of the Gospels, Acts and the epistles, we tell the story of God's work in our lives while we travel.

The Shame Of The Church

Author/producer/consultant Phil Cooke recently wrote a blog post in which he said:

The greatest shame of the church today is that as church members, we don’t bring our non-believing friends.  Evangelical churches in the third world are exploding – all without marketing, hip pastors, video screens, or multilevel parking.  They’re growing because people are bringing their friends …

A couple Sundays ago I asked you to take home a free “Invest And Invite” card (print out your own with this PDF).  It’s a simple concept, which we’ve done at various times throughout Sojourn’s history:

  1. Write down the names of three people you know who need Christ.
  2. Pray for them daily.
  3. Invite them to Sojourn Gathered and your community group.

Who is with me on this? Who has been doing this?

I am passionate about this. If you run into me, don’t be surprised if I say, “Hi! Did you get your Invest & Invite card? Have you been praying for and investing in your names? Have you invited them yet?”

The body of Christ must advance the mission of Christ by preaching and living the message of Christ. Invest in those around you, and invite them to gospel community.

Who is with me?
