Pastor Daniel: "Three Is A (Party) Crowd"
Hey church, if you’ve seen the video featuring Ed Stetzer and me, you know I’m in Europe right now on a church planting trip. Part of Sojourn’s mission is to see the gospel transform this world. We believe God accomplishes this through His people, as they plant churches. It’s an honor to be a part of this trip, and to lead a church that is serious about reaching the world. Still, my thoughts are always with you, our neighborhoods and Louisville.
I hope you’re anticipating this coming Sunday. Not only will we gather for worship as usual, but it is a special day in the Christian Church Calendar called Trinity Sunday. On this day, we honor and praise our triune God, who has always existed in perfect community of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Our Trinity Sunday service is a chance for us to celebrate and learn about this key doctrine of the Christian faith. My good friend Dr. Bruce Ware will teach on the trinity, so if you’ve never really understood this doctrine or why it is important, please come. This won’t be a “dry” lecture. We can all benefit from Dr. Ware’s knowledge, and his ability to share his knowledge in an interesting way.
You or your community group can even throw a “Party Of Three” this week or next, to celebrate the fact that community begins with God, who eternally exists in perfect community with Himself. What’s a Party Of Three? Simple –
- Three legged races
- elbow tag
- 3-on-3 basketball
- Three Little Ponies, like here:

Make three kinds of cake, three flavors of punch, three different cheeses – get creative about community. Invite your neighbors, and if they ask why there’s three of everything, tell them. Then let us know how your Party Of Three went. Email stories@sojournchurch.com, and I’ll share your stories with our church family.
If you don’t have time to throw it together this weekend, do it sometime next week. Yes, I am giving you a ready-made excuse to throw a party. Parties are fun. Have fun worshiping our triune God.
